Your Burning Questions

The Workout.

What is The Junkyard? The Junkyard is the only Functional Fitness studio in the world that combines our Junkyard Music Technology with Treadmills, Cycles, Rowers and Functional Lifting. With this combination, we understand the value of cross training and how important it is to constantly keep the body guessing.

Will I be okay if I’m a beginner or not already in shape? Of course! The Junkyard is geared toward ALL levels of fitness and everyone is free and encouraged to go at their own pace. If it’s your first time, we’ll look after you in any class you choose. We don’t have a “beginner’s class.” Junkyard classes are created for you to challenge yourself — you can set your own level of speed and choose the heaviness of your weight, depending on your experience. To make the most of your first class, we ask that you arrive 15 minutes early. Find out more about being a first timer here.

I have issues with (part of the body). Can I still do your workout? Absolutely. Our coaches are trained to provide options for each exercise on the floor, in addition to offering a low-impact treadmill, bike and rower alternative for lower body injuries or orthopedic restrictions.

What equipment do you use at The Junkyard? Our workout room has a variety of equipment including FreeMotion Treadmills, Concept 2 Rowers, Concept 2 Bikes and floor equipment including but not limited to dumbbells, benches, TRX suspension trainers, medicine balls etc.

How early should I arrive for my first Junkyard class? We ask that you arrive 15 minutes prior to your first class to go over your fitness goals, fill out any additional forms and introduce you to your fitness coach. After booking your first class, look out for an email to fill out our client intake form prior to your arrival. We recommend contacting your local studio for more information regarding your first class. See you soon!

How often should I go? We recommend 4 classes per week as an optimal number, with 3 classes per week at a minimum if you’re hoping to see visible results. But, as always, listen to your body — if your muscles are very sore, give them time to recover.

Why do days of the week focus on different muscle groups? Most days, the floor exercises are focused on a specific part of the body. There are two reasons for this: It’s the safest option for people who really want to get fit fast — switching muscle groups creates the biggest impact and reduces the risk of injury. We also all come in all different shapes and sizes, and all of us have something about our appearance we’d like to prioritize each week, so we continue to mix it up!

BUYING A MEMBERSHIP AND CLASS PACKAGES

What options do I have for buying classes? You have two options — monthly commitments or class packages, depending on the kind of relationship you’re ready to have with us. As you’d expect, the more you commit, the more you save.

What is your refund policy? As applicable, classes and membership packages are non-refundable. No exceptions. We do not offer refunds on purchases for our services, beyond your statutory rights. We strongly ask you to be modest in your initial membership purchases, and to make sure you like us, can reach the venue, and like what we do before making extravagant purchases. Unused merchandise that was purchased in studio will be accepted for a full refund within 7 days of purchase. No returns will be provided without a receipt. For questions or support with online purchases or returns, please visit www.thejunkyardfitness.com/contact-us.

Do you offer special pricing for students, first responders, or members of the military? Special packages or memberships may be available for your studio, but vary seasonally and from studio to studio. For more information, please visit www.thejunkyardfitness.com/contact-us

Do you offer corporate discount or group booking programs? We do! Find more info here.

Can I transfer or share my class package or membership? Class packages can be shared amongst clients, or used to make guest reservations, as long as they’re used within the same market in which they were purchased. Memberships, however, can not be shared and are non-transferable.

Can I use my classes at any location? Yes! You can! Make sure to read the small print or ask the studio when buying a package or membership for clarification.

Can I freeze my membership? If you commit to a membership, you can cancel it with a doctor’s order or due to a move out of the region. Hopefully you are moving to a region with a Red Room though! In either case, documentation may be required. You can also freeze it for up to six months for an injury. If you wish, you can freeze a membership for the duration of your pregnancy. We support you and when you are ready to come back to class postpartum, you can take it at your own pace. You know your body best and we are so impressed with our Mamas-to-be and new mamas in class.

Do my classes roll over if I don’t use them at the end of my membership cycle? No. Any unused classes will not roll over to the next membership cycle. So, make sure to use up all your classes!

What happens at the end of my membership? If you purchased one 6 month membership, your membership will convert into a regular 30-day Recurring Membership at our regular in-studio rates once your 6 months are complete. You may activate this new 30-day membership by booking into a class. If you do not activate within 30 days of your 6-month membership being completed (by usage or expiry), the membership will be activated for you. You may cancel this monthly recurring membership by connecting with your studio. If you purchased two 6 month memberships. You should activate your second 6 month membership by booking into a class within 30 days of your first 6-month membership finishing (by usage or expiry). If you do not activate within 30 days of your first 6-month membership being completed (by usage or expiry), the second 6-month membership will be activated for you. Both of these memberships are non refundable. *6 Month Membership Terms and Conditions: Memberships are prepaid for 6 months and all classes added upfront. Memberships are valid in the regions specified at time of purchase. Memberships are non-refundable and not transferable. Memberships may be paused one time for 30 days during the 6 month period. All classes for the prepaid membership duration will be added to client account on the day the membership is activated and will expire 6 months after the activation date.

BOOKING YOUR SPOT

Does Orangetheory have a referral promotion? Yes! As an active member, refer a friend and save $50 on next month’s membership dues when your friend joins as a Premier or Elite member. For additional questions, visit the Refer a Friend FAQ here.

How do I book a class? Book your first class by signing up online or calling the Junkyard studio most convenient for you. You can also download The Junkyard app. With the app you will be able to easily view schedules, book classes and get access to latest Junkyard intel.

What is your cancellation policy? We know how much you love to plan so we open reservations 7 days prior to the class. All we ask is that if you are not going to be able to make the class, you cancel at least 12 hours prior. This allows us to make sure someone else gets that primo treadmill if you can’t make it! Anything canceled less than 12 hours before class starts is a late cancel, and you will forfeit the class from your package and incur a no-show fee if you have a membership. (See “What if I miss class?” for more details.)

What if I miss class? If you book a class under your membership and don’t show up, you’ll forfeit the class and receive a no-show fee — which ranges in price depending on which city your membership is in. If you have a class package, you just forfeit your class.

How far in advance can I reserve my class? Seven days. At noon, exactly one week prior, we release all classes for a given day. So for instance, if it’s Tuesday, you can book the following Tuesday’s classes beginning at 12:00pm, and so on and so forth. For the most popular classes, we know for a fact that there are people staring at their computers at 11:59 a.m., fingers ready to pounce on the classes once they open for reservations.

What if I’m there close to class start or late to class? We want to be totally transparent with you: a lot goes into the final minutes before class, which is why we require you to be present five minutes before the class start time. It’s a lot like flying — we need that time to finalize the roster and everyone’s starting spots, as well as to accommodate the wait list and any needed moves. If we started this process at the beginning of class, the class would start late and you wouldn’t get your full workout. If you are late to class and we have not given away your spot to the waitlist, it won’t cost you anything but a few hundred calories. Just check in, come in, and try not to disturb the Barry’s clients who have already begun their workout.

What is the wait list? Lots of our classes sell out. If the class you want is sold out, you can get on our wait list. As clients cancel, you will be automatically added to the class in the order you signed up. If you secure a spot more than 6 hours before the scheduled start time of the class, we will notify you by email. If a spot doesn’t open by then, you still have a chance of getting in. Just arrive at least 5 minutes before class starts and once we have our no-show count we’ll start adding clients from the wait list in order of sign ups.

Can I move my reservation? If you are outside the 12-hour cancellation window, you can always switch to another class that’s not already sold out. If you need to move your booking — but there are less than 12 hours until your scheduled class — that’s considered a late cancellation and the above policy would apply.

Do my classes roll over if I don’t use them at the end of my membership cycle? No. Any unused classes will not roll over to the next membership cycle. So, make sure to use up all your classes!

OTHER THINGS TO KNOW

What is your return policy? You can find all information regarding our return policy on the Terms & Conditions page here.

Do you offer gift cards? Yes! You can find options for your region on our Gift Card page.

Can I leave my kids, pets, or other items in the lobby? We’d love to share the Barry’s love with everyone, but we unfortunately can’t be liable for anything left in our lobby area. We do not offer child or pet sitting at this time. We love the little ones, but all children must be accompanied by a supervising adult at all times.

What if I’m pregnant or just had a baby? We strongly recommend you talk with your doctor about what is appropriate for you. Everyone is different. Plus, the details of each pregnancy can differ. While continuing a reasonable program of physical activity and exercise during/after pregnancy often can be beneficial, some modification to exercise routines and exertion levels may be appropriate. Again, we recommend you discuss what is best for you with your doctor, and make sure your doctor knows what a Barry’s workout entails (running and weight training). If you wish, you can freeze a membership for the duration of your pregnancy. We support you and when you are ready to come back to class postpartum, you can take it at your own pace. You know your body best and we are so impressed with our Mamas-to-be and new mamas in class.

Can I bring my service animal or support animal into the studio? Service Animals (any animal that has been trained to perform a service, such as a seeing eye dog) are allowed in the studio but due to class conditions (treadmills, heavy equipment, dark lighting, loud noises, and close proximity to other clients), service animals are not permitted in the Red Room during class. Please connect with your local studio team for additional assistance with accommodations for you and your service animal while you’re in class with us. Support Animals (any animal that provides comfort and support to their owners but has not been trained to perform a specific task or service) are not permitted in the studio or in the Red Room at any time.

Can I bring my phone into class with me? No! It’s dangerous and distracting to others. We know how vital it can be to keep that phone with you, but please, for that hour you’re with us, pop it in a locked locker. Do you offer lockers at the studios? Yes! All locations (with the exception of The Hamptons) have personal lockers for your use, complete with built-in combination locks. Please note that Barry’s is not liable for any personal property you may bring with you into the studio so please be sure to lock your locker with a unique combination each and every time.

How old do I have to be to come to Barry’s? Minors 14 – 15 years old may participate in classes only with a parent or legal guardian present and attending the class. Minors 16 – 17 years old may participate in classes without a parent or guardian, but the parent or guardian must agree to these Terms on their behalf. No one under 14 years of age may take a Barry’s class.
